official PA.com mirrors...

i was wondering, because i am starting my own PA.com Mirror, with johns permission AND ALL OF THE PROPER TRADEMARKS, would i be able to use the PAlogo and "PortableApps.com - Your Digital Life Anywhere (TM)" and to be an officially noted mirror.

No

The only mirrors we recommend are the SourceForge mirrors. This site will not be linking to any other sites hosting the software and will, in fact, be actively discouraging people from downloading the releases from other sites. There are too many "me too" sites out there now that are poorly recompiling the releases from here with old launchers, packaging bugs and the like and releasing them as the real deal.

as do i ...

since I am more of a one-stop niche shopper. I get that the other folks who are mirroring the files on their websites are trying to drum up visitors, but unless it is different content like NeoRame's themes or other folks own portable apps, I feel the proper place for any downloads are from here or the sourceforge ones.

Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.

Was I the only one that got that? Biggrin

Oh, and I have to say to that, touchè (is it grave, or acute?).

Inside joke. Read some of my early comments on topics and you'll find it.

Ditto.

Ditto. We need to stick with the official mirrors. sergeantsiler: Although you probably shouldn't mirror official apps, you could be a help hosting beta apps. As you may have seen, many (including myself) have sometimes resorted to free sites like MediaFire, that don't have a direct download.

Better.

It's better to have one single package than have to fall to the limits of your extplorer :P.

And

I could swear sergentsiler already posted a while back about having other sites host the apps to or something like that, and you said the same thing.

I think he's the one that posted it.

Yes

I believe the Application Page would be preferred as a direct download concerns people when something just wants to download when the click on a link. And they can read about the app on the page, too.

*sigh*

Can we all stop calling it Portable Firefox? It's either Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition or Firefox Portable.

Old name

It's the old name and it confuses users (and me, since people calling it Portable Firefox may be using a really old version).
