Hi all, i'm new to forums & portable apps but recently downloaded PFF onto a USB stick & thought i should get the same bookmarks launching regardless of what PC I use, but when I use a PC other than the one I installed PFF onto my USB I only get the default bookmarks. I've checked FirefoxPortable\Data\profile & my bookmarks are there but as IE icon (guess I must have imported them via IE), is this the problem? I'm not that technical so hope somebody can explain in simple terms. cheers

When you installed Firefox Portable you have the option of importing your IE bookmarks through firefox's bookmark manager. This also allows you to back up your bookmarks to and take them to firefox on another computer/device.
I would recommend using google to find out some more info. Also go to the Mozilla Development help page and they will also give you some beneficial information.
Tried google but some of it's too technical for me but will try MD too, thanks. What I don't understand is; when I use PFF on the PC that I downloaded it from I get all my bookmarks & add-ons but when I use the same USB/PFF on other PCs I don't get any of them.

That will open the Bookmark manager. This will allow you import and export your bookmarks from IE and Firefox. It really isn't too difficult. The difficult part is manually finding the bookmark file in one of the many Firefox PAF folders. I had this issue when Firefox took a crap and died on me on one of my 4 thumbdrive. I used the import option to import the old bookmarks (over 1000 of them spanning 3 years).
When i first downloaded PFF I imported all my bookmarks ok & they work fine on the pc where i did this but when i use the same pff/usb on another pc i don't get my bookmarks/add-ons even though i can see them in FirefoxPortable\App\DefaultData\profile
I may not be explaining myself very well but basically my USB/PFF is not portable at all because when I go to any other PC i get the default bookmarks
This should not be the case. I use the PAF Firefox on 5 different computers. I never run into this issue. The bookmaks should be imported onto your thumbdrive itself.
Also your IE bookmarks are all put into one bookmark folder called "From Internet Explorer".
if this doesnt work you should remove and then reinstall Firefox PAF on your thumb drive.
that's exactly what i thought. i cannot see a folder folder called "From Internet Explorer", so I'm going to uninstall & then re-install. Once I've downloaded PFF & imported my IE bookmarks, my USB/PFF should work on any PC shouldn't it or do I need to do some more work? thnks
They should be there no matter what pc youre using it on.
