Problem with Low resolution displays

I have a computer that I would like to use this on but the resolution on it is 800x480 and the application list expands off the top of the display. Is there a way to set the height of the application list so I can see it all?

Not with the original PAM,

Not with the original PAM, but there is a theme "Compact" for PAM Mod. There is also geek.menu (another mod) that I think lets you resize the menu.

here, John said that 800x600

here, John said that 800x600 is the minimum...

As with most modern software, the PortableApps.com Menu requires a minimum screen resolution of 800x600. There will be a workaround you can do in a later official release, though (not the current 1.1 Betas, but the next big release after that).

Incidentally, what screen could you possibly be using that has lower than VGA resolution? My Windows XP installs won't even let me pick a resolution as low as VGA (640x480) let alone one lower... which makes sense since Windows 2000 was the last version of Windows to support VGA resolutions (XP and Vista require 800x600 minimum, which is why that's what most software works with as a minimum).

cant you...

cant you just set the screen res to 1024 X 768? and if you can tyou probably are operating your video device in "VGA Safe Mode". this is a default mode that works with all monitors when the video driver for your video device is either not installed or is not compatable with your monitor.

(I.e., your montor itself operates with a seperate driver, these monitors are "smart monitors" because they actualy have things like on board video ajustment and they commounicate with the actual computer)

this is most likely the case because i have an 18 year old monitor that was originally on a 386sx-20 slo here. and it displays 1024x768 but only on low refresh Hz.

The OP says that s/he can't

The OP says that s/he can't get video beyond 800x480, which is odd, but I think we should take it at face value. Maybe it is an old, small LCD monitor or something. (Or maybe we're having our leg pulled.)

If the OP could increase screen resolution, that would obviously solve the problem.

I think PStart or one of the alternative mods is the best bet.

...

well if the os says that it cannot go above 800x600 than it is more than likely that it is the problem that i posted before.

when you get a chance i can find the driver. (the methods are obviously only for windows)

Your OS: you should know this otherwise Start>Run>"winver" without quotes

Your Video Card: (to find this, use hardware manager or Start>Run>"dxdiag" without quotes and go to the hardware or video section

Your Monitor: to find this right click on your desktop>advanced and then serch around and it should give you the monitor that is attached to the comp and if it is in "VGA Safe Mode" or not.
