Pearl Harbor Day

I'd like to honor those who perished that one fateful day at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941, to the Japanese kamikazes. I know that most people don't really hold this day to any significance, but over 2,388 people were killed. One attack, so many people killed.

I'm not sure where we would be, or even if we would be, if the United States had not rebounded so quickly as we did. I know that many of you may not be Americans, but still. It was an awful day in world history, and should be remembered with gratitude towards all troops supporting their countries.

Thanks for reading this briefly, and God bless America!

Mr. Vice President, Mr.

Mr. Vice President, Mr. Speaker, members of the Senate and the House of Representatives: yesterday, December 7th, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. - United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt 12-8-1941 during his address to Congress asking for them to grant a state of War with Japan and the axis of evil.

I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve. Line from Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in the movie Tora Tora Tora!

A military man can scarcely pride himself on having 'smitten a sleeping enemy'; it is more a matter of shame, simply, for the one smitten. I would rather you made your appraisal after seeing what the enemy does, since it is certain that, angered and outraged, he will soon launch a determined counterattack. Excerpt from "The Reluctant Admiral" in which it cites the Admirals diary and letters to the royalty of Japan.

This attack was a travesty but a date that shall never be forgotten by those who will remember. I may have been two generations removed from that infamoous day, but I am proud to keep its memory alive.

May all the military personnel, civilians, and innocent Japanese Americans that were harmed or worse that day rest in piece.

Thank you.

Thank you for your contribution.

...

Not a problem. I hold most days of this nature with high regard. A few of the other days that I remind everyone I can is the Marine Corp Birthday and D-Day for the Normandy Invasion. It is not a celebration on those days of war but a reverence of those of an earlier generation who were proud to stand up and say they were Americans without fear of reprisal for their love of this country. It is a sad state of affairs now a days though... If someone were to profess their love of this country in the same way, they are labeled baby killers and war criminals and members of the Neo-Con regime.

I support our troops and take the time to sit with any older vets I can and listen to them talk about what it was like to be a patriot.
