Were you looking for something like Juice
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
I'm hopefully gonna work on Juice, I just need to contact the devs quickly.
If I remember correctly, the project hasn't been updated in quite a while.

But it's fairly stable, and I haven't seen any alternatives.

Is juice currently portable and you just need to PAF it, or does it need some work?

Copy the podcast adresses to the firefox bar, click enter and wow. Now you can download the podcasts. Take Vlc to read them after.
It's all about convenience, there's lots of apps on this site not 'needed' because there's other apps that can handle their duties, or there's a web-based app, or a system app that has the same function, but it's all about convince when there's a program just for that task. What if someone doesn't want VLC and Firefox Portable on their device?
It was just a possible solution.
Just not very practical if you subscribe to a lot of podcats.
I use myPodder on my cellphone, and the rest of Apps on my PDrive...

I had some problems when I last used Juice.
I now use PodPuppy which is excellent but it requires Net Framework so maybe it couldn't be made into a Portable App.
However when I am away from home it would be BRILLIANT to be able to drop into an Internet Cafe and download all my Podcasts without loads of typing.
This isn't to moan, Portable Firefox and Thunderbird are so very useful.
I've been looking for the same thing - a portable podcatcher. Had been using Juice for some time, but then I found one that is truly portable.
Ziepod (www.ziepod.com) looks great, and there is a free version you can download as well as a paid version with some extras. To use the free version as a PortableApp, you need to download and install it on a PC. Then simply copy the Ziepod folder and all its contents to your USB stick or whatever device you want to use it on. You can then uninstall it from your PC. (See the first FAQ at http://help.ziepod.com/index.php?docid=FAQ) for further instructions.
Other advantages over Juice include the ability to set all feeds to download automatically, except those you specify should not. Then you can select only to download the episodes you're interested in for those.
Have been using this for a couple of weeks now on Vista and encountered no problems transferring the Ziepod folder between machines, and even running the app from a network drive.
One another note: this is my first post, and I just want to thank John and everyone here for their hard work. I use PortableApps on my PC every day, and they're great. Keeps my Vista install nice and clean as I don't need to install anything
