Merry Christmas Everybody!
I have just released a new version of Xenon. For those of you who are new to Xenon, it is a portable file manager with portable file associations so you can take open a file with say OpenOffice Portable on any computer.
Added Features
- Custom icon sets (toolbar)
- Custom home page
- Bookmarks
Feature enhancements: Sorting works better
Download: https://downloads.sourceforge.net/xenon-portable/XenonPortable_1.3.8.2_A...
Changes from 1.3.8.1: Fixed treeview issues.
Alright, I tried it out for a while. It sounded pretty awesome, and the homepage seems to work everytime, the bookmarks work, and the icons sets work, all great.
However, 95% of the time when I click on a directory to enter it, an 'Open File' style window opens, I close it, and it says
Cannot copy file: Can not read from the source file or disk
And that just keeps repeating, I close the dialog, and the open file window opens again, and so on and so on. Also, other times when I enter a directory, it asks me what I want the name of the new file to be...I didn't create a new file.
Keeps saying that when I go into a directory. And then it just create OpenDocument Spreadsheet.ods.
Also, when I choose to show the '..' item, it sometimes show a .. for each folder in that directory. So if I have Folder One, Folder Two, Folder Three, I've also got .., .., and ... It also show .. at 'Computer' when you can't even go any higher.
Also, sometimes it randomly says
Use GUICtrlDelete to delete items
Or if items were create with UDF functions MAKE sure to pass in handle and NOT the controlid
When I click on a folder, etc.
So yea, once those bugs are worked out, the new feature will be sweet, but right now it's basically unusable for me. Just keeps giving me errors for no reason, and I have to kill it with Task Manager.
It's a true alpha version.

I pretty much have the major bugs out. I haven't seen the Open file window, can't copy file bug though. Is there any chance that you could get me a screenshot?

I'll try to get one up within' the hour.
Edit:
Here we are.
OK, I'm stumped. I don't get this error and this dialog is not in the code. ???
I guess I'll just have to go up north and see what happens on your computer.
lol

Yea, and we just got lots of snow, too!
Yea, it happens like 90 some percent of the time, when I open a directory, if pops up that dialog.
Hmm, to add to this one -
Whenever I enable the tree view, any folder I click on has unpredictable results. I've seen -
1. Open File Dialog
2. Cannot copy file message
3. Change Icon Set dialog
4. Enter a new folder name dialog
5. One or more search windows opening
6. Open Folder dialog
7. "Las opciones de idioma seran validas luego de reiniciar."
It seems completely random, but I wonder if it has to do with the name of the folder clicked on.
I also get the GUICtrlDelete bug whenever the ".." item is enabled. But mine seems stuck in a loop and I have to kill it with Task Manager.
hi,
this is my first time using xenon.
the first impression was very good.
but I found two strange behavior in the first 5 minutes:
- If I open Help the browser opens. The Help is visible but I can't select anything in the navigation frame.
- I use 2 monitors with different resolution (laptop + additional tft). If I maximize the tool on the laptop screen everything looks fine. If maximize the app on the tft (higher resolution) it just maximize up to the resolution of the laptop size.

Hmmm. What browser are you using?

firefox portable .... whatelse ?
You wouldn't happen to have JavaScript disabled would you?
cowsay Moo
cowthink 'Dude, why are you staring at me.'
js is active
|Great|. It was the HTML compressor (it stripped out some important JS code).

do you have a subfolder on your page where you can place a corrected version for further tests ?
Drop this into XenonPortable/App/xenon/help/nav.html

... with my scite portable
now the help nav works
...in keeping with your "o-O" reply, OPERA portable. *That's* what "else"...

It is ironic that at the hour that you posted this (sort of), without knowledge of this, I went to the sourceforge page and downloaded it for trying out.
Anyway, I didn't knew if I should sent the following by e-mail or post it here, but there are some minor corrections to the translated strings (sorry for errors), some because of wrong interpretation when translating, others I don't know why:
About Xenon, it is really nice and I like it.
I just can't help on bug fixes cause I refuse to login into windows
Thanks.

Version 1.3.8.1 is much better. Still a few minor bugs I noticed. A couple times, when in treeview and opening a directory (clicking on it from the sidebar) it pops up the Open window. Also, when opening directory's from the treeview, sometimes I got the Cannot file from source disk or sumthin.
Also, when opening a file that has no program associated, I get the error dislog for that twice, and then the File Cannot be Opened twice. That was only a couple times. Also, from treeview, when opening a directory, the search Window pops up sometimes.
That's it.
It seems the issues are only really with TreeView. Great work.
One other bug though that I found just in the 1.3.8.1 release. Sometimes when I open a folder (in treeview), I get an error in what looks like Spanish or Portuguese. The language I am using is English, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Merry Christmas to you too.

Is it possible to make Xenon the temporary default on the computer to open file folders? That would probrably be the last frontier for portable file management.

Is there such an option in windows? Do you have any documentation on it?
