operational differences between firefox 2.0.0.11 regular & portable

I've just noticed that operation of the opening of a new link differers from the regular & portable versions.......I don't know if it's related to FF or portable or the add-ons I have installed, but the add-ons are consistent between the two, as is ALL the versions of everything.....

Simply put, the portable version opens a new FF window when a link is selected even though the options are set to open in a new tab.....if I right click & tell it explicitly to open in a new tab, that works.

AFAICT, all the setting across the 2 versions are identical......so, can someone simply test that portable FF 2.0.0.11 is able to open a new link into a new tab when it's selected....I KNOW it used to work, but with automatic updates, I'm not sure when the problem surfaced relative to version changes. I don't have anything fancy installed into FF, and as I said, the regular version works correctly with the same add-ons.

TIA.

Check the tabs section of the options menu

If you check there, there should be an option for opening new pages either in a new window or a new tab.

From what you've described it sounds like that options set to "new window"

No kidding.....if it worked

No kidding.....if it worked correctly, I wouldn't raise the issue.....

I distinctly said the options were set to open in a new TAB, not WINDOW!!!

OKAY!

Maybe stop SPAZZING on people trying to HELP!!! It's NOT a very GOOD way to get advice for your PROBLEM!!!

He clearly just missed that part of misunderstood that part, or missed it, there's no need to get cocky with him as he was only trying to help you.

I just tested on my local

I just tested on my local install, and the portable version was opening in a new tab as expected.

Can you say more about what kind of link you are trying to open? Is it a link in a mail or IM message, by chance? Is there a specific web page you could mention that has a link that misbehaves?

No Difference

There is no operational difference. Only options changed are cache (set to 0) and auto-update (set to ask). So, it's one of your add-ons.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks, I figured as

Thanks, I figured as much.......guess I'll remove the add-ons and re-load them to see what's going on......as I said, the same add-ons work on standalone.....maybe something's trashed on a config file..........
