New accounts not coming up

i installed TB portable and added my email accounts on my laptop on my new flash drive. I then took my flash drive to my work computer and plugged in. The app comes up but it is asking me to configure email accounts again like they werent done.

I looked at the file folders and see my accounts there but when i launch the app they arent coming up.

Ideas?

Hmm

I was getting a similar sort of thing with GIMP Portable, where it saved my settings, but they didn't load.

Anyway, you may have a corrupt profile. I'll see if I can find you a Mozilla Knowledge Base article...

Edit: Appears to be this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Recovering_a_profile_that_suddenly_disappeared
Most of that only applies to the local version, but here's the relevant stuff:

Try running Thunderbird in safe mode to temporarily disable any extensions/themes you added. This is not the same thing as windows safe mode.
See if you have both a prefs.js and a prefs-1.js file in your profile. You should only have prefs.js. One user had that problem. The new prefs.js file didn't specify where mail should be stored. They solved the problem by deleting prefs.js and renaming prefs-1.js to prefs.js.

First off, I'd recommend installing a fresh copy of Thunderbird Portable. Backup your existing Data\profile if you want to keep it, then delete the ThunderbirdPortable folder.

yabbutt

if some data files got messed up you have to do something. but that could happen to everyone, even without an update.
