Welcome to PA

Sorry to hear about the missing icons.

I assume you've tried things like rebooting, or reinstalling PAM?

Do the icons show up if you use Windows Explorer to look at the drive? Or are they missing there too? Are other icons on your machine missing when viewed from Explorer?

Have you searched the forums to see if there are other suggestions or solutions?

Sorry to ask questions without giving answers, but maybe while you are sorting those out someone else who knows the answer can help.

re: menu icons

Thanks rab040ma

I have reinstalled but get the same thing. Funny though, that I can take my drive to another pc and the icons are there.
Must be something to do with my pc. I can click on the menu item and run the program but still would like to have the actual icon in place.
I will keep searching the forums.

Icon Cache

This usually means that Windows' icon cache is corrupt or full. In Windows XP, delete IconCache.db from your /Documents and Settings/[user]/Local Settings/Application Data folder.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

re: Menu Icons [Fixed]

I'm having the same problem. Menu icons broken and problem is only present on one of three PCs. Tried the iconcache resolve, didn't work. Also tried reinstalling PAM (1.0x build and beta 4 build), no luck.

I tested GeekMenu just for the heck of it and it displays the icons normally on the problem machine.

Any ideas?

Stardock's IconPackager was the culprit. Uninstalling/reinstalling resolved the issue. Good thing too, I prefer PAM over GM. Smile

re: Menu Icons [Fixed]

Just a quick NOTE for everyone. I also had the same problem except I didn't have Stardock's IconPackager installed! But, I give thanks to Lighter for steering me in the right direction. I had Microangelo On Display installed which is another icon program. Uninstalling it fixed my problem. reinstalling it just brought the problem back so, I left it uninstalled, didn't use it much anyway! So, it looks like any icon program could potentially cause problems with PAM.

Darc

P.S. The other Microangelo Products don't seem to cause an issue.

Menu Icon Fix

I also had the icon failure problem. I solved it as follows:

1. Go to \PortableAppsSuite\Documents\** folder
2. Open the file called "Desktop" with notepad.
3. Look at the line that says Iconfile=
4. It should start out as follows:\PortableApps\P**
5. If it starts with Iconfile=..\Portable***
6. Delete the ".." and saved the file.
7. Close and restart PortableApps.

Hope this helps someone, It worked for me!
