I would like to hire someone to make a portable app

I need to have Quickbooks Pro 2007 made portable. I have a licensed, registered copy. Name your price.

I've always wondered about

I've always wondered about this.

If someone makes a launcher for a licensed, registered copy of a program what is to stop it from being copied from one flash drive to another and redistributed?

I'm sure folks who just make launchers for closed source programs have this figured out but I was wondering in principal how it works.

I've found a way to make a program that I have portable but I've done it so well that anyone could just copy it and use it. I know that this would be wrong. I'm thinking the only way to do it would be to "lock" the program onto the flash so if it was copied to another media it would not work.

Or do we just trust that a user would not redistribute?

Alternative

For something like this you may want to check out alternatives that are more legal. Try checking out mojopak (sp?) I also think the EULA for Quickbooks states that you are not allowed to modify or redistribute.

Just my look on it though.

Well...

I would, but for the fact I don't own a copy of Quickbooks myself. If that isn't a problem, you can contact me from my contact form and you name your price. Smile

Simple Solution

Why not just use the PAC or the Portable Application Template to portablize it yourself??

Insert original signature here with Greasemonkey Script.

It probably did, and that's

It probably did, and that's a fairly easy error to fix.

OK!

Here you do not need to hire someone here to make a launcher for you (assuming there are some devs here that own a copy of QBs 2K7)

May I suggest you try using GnuCash instead? There is a portable version I believe.

I'm actually doing it

This topic's dead, since I'm doing it for him.
