I greatly value yahoo messenger. It's the tool that allows me to contact my parents overseas. However, my school has removed all messengers and I can no longer install it on the restricted system.
I am wondering, why anyone has not tried to make it portable yet !!!
hotjeff1857, did you even searched the applications page for seeing if there is an alternative? On the sidebar there are two apps of your interest: Pidgin Portable and Miranda IM Portable. Those work as messengers and can login to MSN/Yahoo!/ICQ/any other messenger server. They don't need admin privileges, run from USB and don't leave personal data on the host computer (unless you want).
If you read the guidelines and searched on the forums you would find out that here it is impossible to host Yahoo! Messenger Portable because it is cloused source.
In here it is not allowed warez.
I hate to be like this, but it is necessary. I already tried to request a form for having tighter posting settings on this forum.
You can't just create an account and say: "I want this app!" There are rules.
Try portable pidgin or miranda. They are multi-protocol IM apps and can be found here. Personally, I use pidgin with AIM, YM, GTalk, MSM, and ICQ.
You may also find the ports and services blocked. That is what my current client has in place. None of the IM services can connect, even though the software works.
Good luck!
