Well, holidays are behind and everybody is sober and fresh.
I'm proud to announce that version 3 of PNotes is ready for testing. What's new:
1. Rich edit box is used instead of simple edit box (the main change
in version), which allows to apply rich text format (font, alignment,
highlight) to any portion of note text. Hyperlinks
recognition is now available as well.
2. Added option for autosave mode - all notes will be
autosaved in appointed interval.
3. Bug fixed - notes are saved automatically on system shutdown (if
option "Save all on shutdown" is selected).
4. Each note can now be saved by pressing Ctrl+S.
5. First characters of note are now used as default note
name instead of creation timestamp.
6. Drag-&-Drop support (drag-&-drop any file on note).
7. Added "Save All" command.
8. Because of rich edit format each note is stored as separate file, instead
of previous versions, where all notes are saved in single notes.pndb file.
Notes from previous versions can be imported by choosing "Preferences->
Misc->Get notes from previous versions".
9. Command line arguments are changed as well. In previous version swicth
-config had two arguments: Notes.ini file location and
optional Notes.pndb file location. In the currenct version -config still has two arguments, but the second optional arguments is now "data" directory location, and should not be a file name.
10. Skins from previous versions are incompatible with new one.
Well, I think that's all. I included English only language file in beta package and several new skins. Because of old skins incompatibility with new version I publish the beta of PNSkinCreator as well - somebody may take a glance.

Found an issue though.
When attempting to change the skin on an existing note, sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. It seems random to me, sometimes I can select Ancient or classic-blue but it applies classic-yellow, sometimes I select classic-yellow and it makes the note vanish, sometimes the skin that I selected gets properly applied.
Edit: Oops found something else as well
-The "Show License" button in the About dialog doesn't do anything
-"Help" does nothing

I can not reproduce it. May be anyway any consistency in skins appearance/disappearance?
The "\" with box (which is my implementation of page and pen :):) ) should disappear after each saving - and so in behaves for me. Can you give a detailed description - what do you do when it does not disappear?
"Help" and "License" wouldn't work - I haven't include these files into package (the help file isn't ready yet)
The edit box works properly...i just had a lot running at the time so it was slow....i removed that issue from my post, apparently while you were writing your response.
As for the skins issue, it is only the classic-yellow that has made notes disappear, but it does not always make the notes disappear, only sometimes.
Edit: after more testing, I found more info on the skins issue, and it isn't just the classic-yellow.
1. Create a note with No Skin.
2. from Preferences in tray menu, change notes to have a skin.
3. whichever skin was selected will be properly applied.
4. try to change the skin again via the Preferences tray menu.
5. either nothing changes or the note vanishes.
If the skin is instead changed through the individual notes' "Adjust" option, the skin applied correctly.

Ah, now I see. I haven't figured out yet why and when it happens exactly, but at least I reproduce it. So, there is a reason for debugging.

The ability to expand the note... some notes take 5 lines and appear complete, but some notes takes more than 10 lines and the it doesn't appear complete, I have to move the cursor to the bottom to see the rest of the lines...
So, it is possible to add this feature?

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report
There is a grip in the right lower corner of "skinless" note - you may to resize the note by dragging this grip (if I understand you right).
The bug is debugging (as far as I can do it at home with one only display :()
These are both absolutely fantastic. I will certainly let you know of bugs when I run into some.
I will also work on that installer to. I had some work done on it, but I stopped over the holidays.
Well, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I added ability to set different mask color for different skins - and it resulted in bugs, wich unavailable for fixing in the short time. After all I just wanted to help to myself with skins creation - there was nothing related to program improvement in different mask colors. So skins will have (as they had before) a single magenta mask color.
Both links at the top of post are updated - it may take a while for mirrors to catch the files.
Be sure to replace all previously downloaded files.

..just playing around with the creator. It was really hard to keep the mask colour for a new theme but Your example was very helpful. Keep on with the good work

Just put PNotes 3.0.102 - see the first post for link. May take a while to update mirrors. Fixed bug - note did not become scheduled (a little confusion with dialogs).

I really like the drag&drop thing.
But I noticed something - I'm not sure whether its a bug or not
If I have ancient set in the preferences window, I cant adjust a note to something else than Anciemnt, classic-blue, classic-pink or classic-yellow.
And if I have the preferences set to "no skin" I cant adjust one note to have anything else that that.

Do you mean settings for single note? Yes, of course, "No skin" and skins are global settings - you cannot mix them. Either all notes are skinnable, or not. In skinnable mode you can change skins, but cannot resize the note, and in skinless mode you have all the colors of the world available and resizable notes.

1. Make "On Top" a global preference as well.

Just put PNotes 3.0.103. Nothing critical - fixed some inaccuracy in bitwise operations and changed dialogs to fit entries in languages other than English (which can be much longer)
