Hello Chaps,
I imagine this was asked before, I did a search but it was not very fruitful. I apologise if this is the case.
My portable firefox version has gotten rather slow recently when I am trying to switch between tabs. I have got a brand new 4GB USB stick (dongle) the cache is set to 15mb and I regularly have 15 tabs open at once if not more.
Yet when I want to switch it takes an age for the action to take place. I have this also on other computers.
What am I doing wrong?
Kind Regards DF
1. What operating system are you using?
2. What version of Firefox are you using?
3. Do you have any addons installed on Firefox?
Be sure to disable cache (it slows it down from a flash drive). That's why it's disabled by default.

The computers I have access to use XP.
I have the latest Firefox 2.0.0.11.
15 add ons installed.
How do I disable the Cache? I have turned down to 0MB will that do?
Setting it to zero is the same thing.
Be sure you're not using an extension that does anything with sessions (like tab browser extensions and the like). They save what you're doing to the drive every time you do anything (like switch tabs). And, when something is being written to the drive, nothing can be read, so Firefox pauses until the write is done.

so a drive like an OCZ Rally2 should be a fair bit faster than my current Corsair Voyager then as it has dual controllers?
But I have an OCZ Rally2 8GB drive and it's just about the slowest one I've ever used.

thats funny. But the same happened to me so...c'est la vie

I'll just get a Voyager GT instead then, choices, choices. Then again a portable HDD could be a good move, a 2gb Voyager GT is about £20 whereas an 80gb HDD would be £45, hardly pocketable though.
Mine's a Super Talent with 33 MB/s read and 25 MB/s write.
Now I have deactivated Tab mix plus it's fast again. Shame though since I have lost the closed tab list and restore session which i found quite useful, but the speed is more important.
Cheers DF
