Is it illegal to post a link to to a torrent or to make a reference to where to find a portable app? Just wondering, Thanks for the answers

For these portable apps, it's fine to post a torrent somewhere. Of course we really do appreciate if you link to the official downloads as the user can be sure they are the true file, and that they are always the latest version that's been release here.
So what your saying is that we need to post the torrent somewhere else but can we post a link to the torrent here?

If you don't know, the downloads here are hosted by SourceForge.net. They are regular http downloads, not torrents.
While you're free to redistribute the files published by PortableApps.com that permit it (like our open source apps), you can not publish them and then advertise where they are hosted here. See the forum guidelines for information on self promotion.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Are you trying to host a some big software or a commercial software because you want to make a link to a torrent and not a straight link to the file?
