I'm a scientist and I am looking for something to keep a journal for my research. Currently I use sunbird for this task and it gets the job done. I just wanted to compare with other programs to see what I like best.

What I personally use is TiddlyWiki variant in conjunction with PortableFireFox. TiddlyWiki can be found at www.tiddlywiki.com and it has a lot of "variants" than may suit your needs. The specific variant I use is called "Paul's Notepad" and it works well for my personal journalling and personal project planning.
