Hello,
Spicebird is a "free and open source collaboration suite", pim, rss-reader and mailclient, based on thunderbird 1.
A portable version exists from Caschy, but it's not an official version.
What do you think about this project? It's possible to take it to the list of apps making portable?
Regards,
Teuchtlurm
This looks pretty awesome.
I'm gonna try it out a bit more.
Edit: Wow, I really like this. I may drop some others and work on this.
its still in beta....it is really nice, but may be best to wait for it to go stable
The developer formerly known as ZGitRDun8705
But this is a great time to get a -profile switch added in, unless it already supports it which I wouldn't be surprised since it's built off of Thunderbird.
make this one soon

Please search before posting. ~Thanks
A nice app. And a good combination of Thunderbird, Lightning and some additional features.
I've completed a test version and dropped a note including it to Synovel asking permission to release it and use their trademarks. I'll post the test version once we have approval from them.

I thought this would make for an easy one for you having already done the Mozilla apps.
Yeah, it's a relatively quick one. I didn't thoroughly test it, but it's basically one of the newer betas of Thunderbird (so we have to handle the crash data as in FF3 betas) combined with Lightning (which already works with Thunderbird Portable). So it was a lot of find and replace, add in the crash report handling code from FF3B2 and then alter the branding, etc. It's using the Development Test splash because it's relatively untested. I sent it off to them to try, so hopefully we'll hear back by tomorrow and I can post it for everyone to play with.

The guy posts a message about an App and 3 hours later you already have it done. Or almost done.
Did you know about this App before?

Lets not go too far. It was much more like three hours and 26 minutes.
Power has already corrupted. One little promotion, and all of a sudden he's the clock police.
I am not my signature.
the funny thing is, he is so eager to use his newly acquired power, he is actually modifying his own posts. Hahaha

That was actually shortly before I got promoted.
I noticed they had the plugin panel in the addons window. Can't wait to test, because I love tango.
Any chance of a reply on the Miro situation?

That's a great line. I wish all companies were like that.
I'm glad you fixed the link
And just out of curiosity, did anyone ever test one of Cashy's Apps? He says they are portable but to what extent?

I'm thinking we may have to remove that link (caschy). He's using Mozilla's trademarks without permission. As well as the Spicebird trademarks.

Yeah. Noticed a couple minute later. Thanks for not replying.
I tested Caschys version of portable thunderbird long time ago, no problems with portability.

I heard back from Synovel and they gave us the go. So it's been posted over here:

i've got permission from Synovel
But I doubt you have permission from Mozilla. Nor do you have permission from me (since I can't give it to you for Mozilla's apps anyway... it's a very specific license and does not extend to 3rd parties).

Would he need also permission from Mozilla for apps based on Mozilla apps?
I don't think he would, as it doesn't use any of Mozilla's trademarks, just code. However I can't be too sure on that one.
I meant for Firefox, Thunderbird and Sunbird. He's repackaged all of them into his own versions with all the trademarks intact (which isn't permitted under the trademark licensing guidelines).
