I downloaded this portable Skype version: http://www.chip.de/downloads/c1_downloads_20733442.html
It works like a charm, except when I launch it via the Portable Apps menu. I just copied the folder into the portable apps folder. Starting it via the menu results in an error message from Skype (it can't find some files) but if I just open the folder and start Skype with an double click on the exe: everythings fine.
I have "installed" several stand alone apps from other source like this and never had a problem. Does anybody know why this is not working?

Like many of the apps published by the individual that made the copy of Portable Skype you mentioned, it is both illegal and unsupported.

The Portable Firefox they have is PortableApps' german version. It even has our Bookmarks...

The real version of Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition in German uses the PortableApps.com Installer, is digitally signed to ensure integrity and is published under a licensing agreement with Mozilla.
Their illegal package of it doesn't satisfy any of those criteria. And it's using older PortableApps.com code with known bugs that are fixed in current releases.
Doesn't make much sense.
