PortableApps.com Hits SourceForge.net Top 5

Hey guys, just wanted to share with you that we finally broke into the SourceForge.net Top 5 Most Downloaded projects. This is from the most downloaded by week stat and it means we show up right on the homepage right in the Statistics box's Most Downloaded section.

Now, the numbers go up and down per day, so we may fall off tomorrow as we still have a bunch of apps to update and new ones from 3rd parties to release next week, but I thought this was cool enough to share.

Ok, off to jury duty.

Kind Regards,
John

Very cool!

I knew we would someday get up there, and I suppose today is that day! Awesome work, John!

New people...

Hopefully we might be able to get a good bunch of newcomers because of being on the front page of SF.net

WOWW

I remember us being something like 40 and I thought "how in the world are we gonna get up there?" I am curious what's gonna happen if John actually does release one App a day next week...?

EDIT
Maybe 40 was the "all time" number but even there we are on 28 Smile

Still

That's pretty good, considering a lot of the projects on that list are several years old, and PortableApps.com began only 2 years ago. That's fantastic if you ask me.

Just yesterday, the first post was by Patrick, with exactly the same words as before. Now the page shows it as someoneabc. What's up with that?

You sure?

I'm absolutely positive it was. Maybe I stayed up a little late and woke up a little early. Blum

Ebb and Flow

Yeah, I knew that would happen. But now that VLC is up... and next week when GIMP and Pidgin hit, we'll be back in the top 5.

Number 4

We actually hit number 4 today and broke 400,000 downloads in a 7 day period (I think for the first time).

Actually not suprised

Portable Apps are the coolest thing, and using the Portable Apps menu just rocks! I have been using it for about 8 months now, I keep wondering how I ever got along without it! I have an 8GB drive with about 4GB of just apps. A huge Thank You to John for developing and updating this app!!!

P.S. I think this is the future of how we will all use applications. More and more programs are being written to be portable. Flash drives are becoming cheaper and higher capacity everyday. More and more people are becoming aware of Portable Apps menu as the defacto standard for managing and launching portable applications. I would not be surprised to see it hit the #1 spot as the most downloaded...
