PortableMenu Suggestions

Not sure if this is the best place, I haven't seen many around but I have a few suggestions for consideration.

-Auto start applications when PAM starts, with options for delay.

-Run application/script on close.

-Custom shortcut to open the menu. (Alt+Winkey would be nice I think, though thats not a generally allowed shortcut isn't it?)

-Allow manual addition(and hide) of programs into the list. Could have a settings file that you put in programs to add and the programs to ignore in.

-Allow to change the name of the program in the list. (Could do this using the above by removing it manually then adding it again with your own name etc)

-Applications in the right click menu. Maybe not all, but maybe a list of favourite programs.

-Option to remove the help button.

-Large Icons option.

-The white(?) bezel around the personal picture is a little ugly.

-Automatically crop/resize image for the personal picture. (Maybe further options to select the crop position etc...)

A good compilation of

A good compilation of suggestions made separately in these forums on many occasions in the past. You could search the forums and find others along the same lines, as well as discussion of whether they might be included in the next version of PortableApps

compilation, of seperate

compilation, of seperate ones?

Thats kind of why I don't know if induvidual ideas have been suggested before, so I just decided to put them all in one, if its already been suggested... well its already in my list Blum

I honestly didn't want to search for each suggestion just to leave them off of my list, but I did a quick search for any large post of suggestions to add my own too, but none.

I wasn't trying to be critical, just pointing out that the suggestions aren't completely original. But as I said, I haven't seen them all in one place in such a concise list.

It's good to search, but sometimes people complain if you add a "me too" note to a topic that's been inactive for many months. I'm not sure if there is a different way to keep track of feature requests that might also show how they have been prioritized by developers or where they might be in a "roadmap", but unless there is a different way, the same suggestions will keep getting made regularly.

On the other hand, if the suggestions don't get repeated regularly, people might get the impression that the developers have forgotten them.

rab040ma

No worries, your post read slightly strange, I can kind of see what you meant to say now but still a little hard.

Something that I have totally totally missed... is that (like most projects here), its hosted on sourceforge, which has a requests section Blum

I'd check with John (or Marko or Ryan?) to see whether they pay any attention to the request or bug infrastructure on SF.net.

The

forums are defiantly the best place for this sort of thing, I look over on Sourceforge only occasionally as it isn't really used.

I think

you should try one of the PAM Mod's, both have those options...

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

Ah, I saw that one site and was confused why I was looking at menu updates somewhere else other than here.

Will give it a try.

I also noticed that the source is Delphi so I might as well just sort out all my own little whimsical wants Blum
