I'm amazed. So I can't go portable if I have to see .tiff files in Firefox? Sad.

far as I can tell, you should be able to use Quicktime for viewing tiff's in Firefox, you can make Quicktime portable by simply copying the correct dll files to the plugins directory of your Firefox Portable install, under Data\plugins. The files you are looking are npqtplugin.dll, npqtplugin2.dll, npqtplugin3.dll, npqtplugin4.dll, npqtplugin5.dll , npqtplugin6.dll & npqtplugin7.dll

I rarely use Quicktime, but there are times when stuff on the internet requires quicktime. By copying those dll's to firefox, is that sufficient for internet content, or do I have to have quicktime installed on the computer as well?
QuickTime is only available for XP and Vista (except Mac, of course), so I can't use that. Tried installing it, it refused to install.
I'll try to toy with your input - thanks! - let's see if I manage to get any further.

Unless the lack of npqtplugin7.dll is the culprit. I managed to locate old versions of all the other files and copy those into (drive letter):\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins.

Not that many people use it in day to day working, and those that do tend to need it for more than just popping up an image in a browser. Because of this, there are very few plugins around that handle the images, and those that can all involve installation on the PC.
If you don't care about leaving registry keys hanging around, you might be OK with alternatiff. But it definitely does write its registration data into the registry, so you won't be truly portable unless you edit the FFP nsi code to cope with the extra keys.
If you can find a good, open source plugin that can handle tiffs, then it shouldn't be too much work to install it into FFP - you'd just need to copy the plugin dll file from an installed copy into the plugins folder on your FFP. However, I'm not aware that any such beast exists, but here is only about portablizing existing software - if it don't exist, the guys here can't make it portable for you.
for the effort and the info. Looks like I'll be looking around and experimenting some more - unless someone cleverer comes up with something before I do.
What do I need it for? Besides the nicety in being able to view any kind of graphics in Firefox, one of the largest Swedish banks don't know how to deal with autoscanned images of handwritten deposit notes, and have opted to serve them in this utterly stupid non-standard format, requiring all and sundry to rely on odd, infamous third-party software in order to see via Internet who on earth sent them money.
I'll keep bugging them about it, rest assured. Such behaviour (and incompetence, IMNSHO) p***** me off...
