it is called wipeer it allows several pc's to connect without internet connection with similar functions as msn including games i love this software specially at lunch times on laptops work are too tight for wifi internet.
in there news it does state they are releasing it as open source thanks dazzza

it requires NET 2.0 and isnt Open Source so it cant be made portable by PortableApps.com but maybe a forum member gives it a shot.

It will be open source according to their News page, but .NET kind of kills it.
