the official apps here

the official apps here auto-detect drive letter changes, so that shouldn't be an issue. are the apps in question from somewhere else, or from beta testing here?

The normal way of installing

The normal way of installing a regular application does let you put it onto a removable drive, but usually puts pointers to it all over the place (registry, files). Most such apps can't run if you change the drive letter. When they are made into PortableApps, those things are analyzed and workarounds are devised, so they can run, and so all the stuff they write to the registry and filesystem are cleaned up and/or preserved for use on another machine.

The solution would be to use exclusively apps from this site.

If there is some kind of application you need that is not provided by this site, let us know what it is, maybe we can help you set something up to solve the problem.

ahh ok, that answers it

ahh ok, that answers it exactly. i used to try to install things on my drive before i found out about portableapps, and thats when i noticed the problem. i guess i just never gave portableapps a chance to even test it out, i just figured it would be the same.

hopefully i can find all the apps i need right on this site. thanks.
