hi all...
i want to download one of the open source image editors.
I was originally using GIMP, but it is not too new and the interface is sorta boring.
Is there an editor that you guys could recommend?
thanks

What do you mean by not too new? It was just recently updated to 2.4.x
GIMP would be the OS editor of choice.

Paint.NET can handle a lot, has a nice interface, and is pretty great if you find GIMP is too much.
Does .NET refer to some kind of dependency?
yes it does. and since it's .net, we know it can't be made portable. the original poster isn't specifically requesting a new portable image editor though, just an image editor.

You can DL a no-install ZIP file.
It's clean, easy to use, but pretty powerful.
DL the French version ZIP file, DL the language file (if you don't speak French), then follow the instructions on the page to set the language.
I use it for quick edits, when I don't want to wait for GIMP.
I also give this to my younger cousins when they want an easy-to-use app.
