Sent, Drafts and Templates folders gone

Hello everyone,

I have just downloaded new version of Thunderbird portable to put it on my USB drive, but after installation and after adding email account I do not see special folders like Sent, Templates or Junk.

I thought that they will be created upon first usage (first mail sent for example), but nothing happened.

Is it normal ?

Best regards
Midaran

so welcome and

which folders do You see? Do You have a local TB ? Yes, then You just
copy the contents of Your local profile in to the portable profile folder. If that doesn´t work,You might have corrupted files.Give some more information...

Oh...

Is it normal ? No. But I think you already knew that Smile

So are you saying that you sent a mail and it isn't saved because the Sent folder isn't there? Normally the folder should be there.
In the /ThunderbirdPortable/Data/profile/Mail/{youraccountname}/ folder, there should be several pairs of files. One has no extension, the other has the extension .msf
Do you have a sent/sent.msf file in that folder? It could be in a sub folder...

Try deleting all the msf files and restarting Thunderbird. Does that help?

Oh and welcome to PortableApps.com Smile

Some clarification

Thanks for replies.

I don't see mentioned folders after installation - just clean installation of portable Thunderbird.
No copying of profiles at all.
Upon first run I have added email account, i.e. I've given credentials and server name that's all.

After this I don't see those folders.
It looks like they do not exist in empty profile created by Thunderbird after installation.
I have this issue with version 2.0.0.9, I've found older version ant it works fine (folders are there after installation).

Thanks in advance.
Midaran.

I think

these folders you mentioned will be created after you sent your first mail. At least they aren't in my fresh install so I guess the will appear later.

As Simeon said, they get

As Simeon said, they get created when they are needed, at least in my experience.

It could be that you have encountered a bug in Thunderbird. But try sending and receiving mail (especially sending) and deleting some things (send sample messages to yourself to delete). If sent and deleted mail don't end up in the right folders, that would be something to report to the Thunderbird people.

I don't think there is much chance that the Portable version is doing something to cause that.

I suppose it is also possible that you are using IMAP, and for some reason the folders aren't subscribed. That also normally happens automatically.
