I don't mean to gush, but it is only now that I'm reaping the full benefits of PortableApps.
I live in the United States. Up until now, my experience with PortableApps has been using them on my friends computers, my parents computers, or a few random office computers. I liked the concept, and it worked very well.
Well, recently, I've moved to Lhasa, Tibet...a remote part of China, and recently have been using my PortableApps at random internet café's in strange places and it has made all the difference in the world. Logging in and finding my own Firefox with it's own bookmarks is wonderful. PortableTor is also particularly helpful - it's the only portable app that I use not from this site. Other than that I find myself regularly using many others from here.
So, thank you John T. Haller. I salute you. PortableApps provided a wonderful convenience while living in the United States, but while here in Tibet, they have become a necessity.
(My only problem is that at one of the internet cafes I was in recently I must have corrupted some data as the add-ons no longer work on my Firefox. Still, a small price to pay...)
It's strange how my mom's car has his initials on it...
