Hi,

I wanted to add a comment to this topic:

Dia - A program for drawing structured diagrams
https://portableapps.com/node/1347

...but there was no Reply link, so the topic has probably been closed.

However, the modification technique the guy suggested in the topic had an error, and I wanted to correct it in case anyone else (like me!) is trying to find out how to run Dia portably.

Here's my post (below), in case you can add it there.

Thanks, Ander

learn2laugh: I tried your file-restructuring method, but it didn't work---I got the French error message that GTK couldn't be found.

Here's how I did make it work (after making your changes):

1. I moved your PortableDia.ini file to the folder containing PortableDia.exe.

2. In the PortableDia.ini file, I changed this:

GTKDirectory=..\CommonFiles\GTK\2.0\bin

...to this:

GTKDirectory=GTK\2.0\bin

Cheers, Ander

Yeah, there is some change

Yeah, there is some change going on in the way GTK is implemented. It looks like it isn't going to be in CommonFiles after all, but instead each app will have its own copy. Or maybe it's going to be some hybrid of that. I guess John needs to reveal his thinking on the subject.

However, if you had GTK in CommonFiles, what is in that old topic would work (assuming the versions and such match up). But he should probably test for existence, and use it there only if it really is there.

If John is moving away from having GTK in CommonFiles, it will definitely look the way you have it.
