I think that PortableApps, as awesome as it is, should get a updating applications feature. I think that if there is a new release that the application for the portable devices should automatically download and ask the user if s/he would like to upgrade.
This would be an easier feature to use so the user doesn't have to delete the folder, re-install it and it automatically does it itself.
I mean, it's not hard, but the luxuries of having it do the update itself is awesome and easy in my opinion.
Anyways, just thought I'd let you know what I thought.
Kind Regards.
is already planned (and maybe implemented?) in the upcoming PortableApps Platform.
Next time, try using the search function.
And welcome to PortableApps!
Ah, okay! Sorry, and thank you!
making an uninstaller!

I was thinking about this: Normally you must close the PortableApps Menu before removing an portable app, else the file might be in use. Say now that the portable apps menu would have an option to remove an app. It could close itself after starting the uninstaller app that gets feeded the folder to remove by command line. After the uninstall process the uninstaller could start PortableApps menu again and exit.
This means not an separate uninstaller for every app, but a generic one...
But that would need some small changes to the Portable App menu. I guess some kind of feature like this will come in the next version of PAM but details about what's going to be in it as still very sketchy. I hope at least some details will come our way rather sooner than later. I'm anticipating the release for a long time now, ever scince I was told "After the weekend" and "wait two weeks" replies on some questions from an forum post I did long ago.
(I will skip the official 1.1 version as I'm already used the beta for a very long time and I really love to see the real new version materialize)
anyone good enough with NSIS knows how to close a program that's running?
