What do you recommend?

I'm looking for a program that will password protect anyone from accessing my UBS drive. I'm a teacher, and grades, reports, etc are on my usb drive. So if a student took it from me, it would at least like to have the security of the kid not being able to open the usb drive without a password. Is there a portable program like this that I could use?

also, I was wondering if there was a portable keylogger?

There's a couple of possibilities.

TrueCrypt is open source and you could use that to make a vault you could say within your flash drive. The only problem with that is that you need admin rights on the computer http://www.truecrypt.org/. And if have looked and I have found no portable keylogger open source or not.

It might not be the easiest way but you could get 7-zip portable off of this sight and store your sensitive stuff in a .7z archive that is password protected. I believe that uses AES-256 encryption.

A keylogger generally needs

A keylogger generally needs to bury itself into the operating system's keyboard driver, to intercept and redirect keystrokes. It also needs to use rootkit-like techniques to prevent the user from seeing that it is running. It can be installed and uninstalled as easily as most other programs, but it is inherently not that portable.

A keylogger probably requires admin privileges to install, and if the school system's policies don't block keyloggers, they should. There are certain very specific situations where keyloggers are appropriate, and lots where they can get you and the school system into deep trouble. Best to leave their installation to the system admins.
