TuxPaint Portable 0.9.20 Development Test 1
I like it. Seems like it'll be a good addition. Worked well in my brief test. Didn't do a full reg check, etc on it yet, though. I will later. Let's get some other testers on this.
Rab040ma pretty much did pretty much anything. It was my first app...
But it doesn't save to registry, by default it saves to the user profile folder.
They had a version that is standalone
i give this 5 thumbs up tested it with the kids found no problems couldn't find anything left behind in the registry kids loved it
Here's the regulars.
- The appicon.ico should have the current sizes also in 256 color format.
- You're missing App\Appinfo\appinfo.ini.
- Rename Appinfo to AppInfo.
- Missing App\Readme.txt.
- Missing Other\Source\AppSource.txt.
- Missing Other\Source\Readme.txt.
- Add your copyright in the source.
- Line 169 of the source, change the 100 to 0 as we're dropping fades on the splashes.
- Lines 212 and 213 of the installer you have pre-install code for SumatraPDF Portable.
- Add more info the the help.html, decapitalized the first letter of the tagline, and under TuxPaint Portable-Specific Issues add the four basic support topic bullets for all the apps here.
-
These lines:
IfFileExists "$PROGRAMDIRECTORY\TuxPaintprefs.txt" "" RememberPath ${ReplaceInFile} "$PROGRAMDIRECTORY\TuxPaint.cfg" 'File: $LASTDRIVE' 'File: $CURRENTDRIVE' Delete "$PROGRAMDIRECTORY\TuxPaintprefs.txt.old"
Should they not all deal with TuxPaint.cfg, where's TuxPaintprefs.txt come from? And do you actually have to replace the drive letter? because I don't see anything.
I think that's it. John's right, this is a cool app, though I'm surprised he's never seen it. Good work. Also, update this post with the format stickied at the top of beta testing when you get a chance.

It was a legacy launcher, from last month :P.
It still creates an empty folder in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\ called TuxPaint.
Also, the configuration program should have a launcher too.
How can the config program have a launcher though?
Apparently that folder is empty, I'll take care of it.
I like it. They have it at my school, kinda odd, but this is great.
Now it copies over AppData. I added 2 more tests to see which method would work best for TP.
is out. I'll update as soon as I get my PC back.
May take a while to get there as FileZilla's freezing up.
I think I'm freaking out...
Oh, and don't forget to see the poll
I've just had the chance to play around with this, and it takes about a minute to launch (duplicated on 2 different usb drives) but other then that it seems to run well and leaves nothing behind.
if you need it here's my system configuration:
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1
P4 2.0Ghz
2GB Ram
Kingston DataTraveler 4.0GB
USB 2.0
AVG Free version 8
Some good news!!!
And I just realized I could put a WaitForApp on GraphCalc :D.
AVG 8 sucks, big stylee. Wouldn't be surprised if that's what was slowing things down. Try disabling it and see if app launch speed improves. I uninstalled AVG 8, that's how bad it is. Pity because 7.5 was great.
Tux Paint is great! Might appeal to my three year old. Didn't have any major issues with it. The "stamps" show up really tiny but that's more a program "feature" rather than a portable app issue.
works fine and great...
My 12 year old daughter likes it!
Thank you very much!
Could you renew the download link?
I would also like a download mirror posted for this please.
I know this is old but I'd like to test it out. It think it'd be a great addition to PortableApps.
He dumped it, https://portableapps.com/node/21283
This might be something I can do. If you don't want to do it.
Do you know why? Looking at the TuxPaint Poll, that kind of implies that it is a large and complex app to portabilize. Perhaps it was just because of a perceived lack of interest. Granted, it's probably only useful to those portable appers with kids.
By the way, tho it might look like I'm all official and wear the PA.c uniform, I really don't. I'm just the janitor
Not really sure, He got tired of working on them would be my best guess. Ya I looked at that it, It looks it might be hard, but I will take a look at his launcher tomorrow and do a regshot with the install of tuxpaint and see what I will be dealing with.
You may not be a developer, but a janitor is as important as any one else
It doesn't look like it would be hard, the hardest part would be making the installer for the stamps. I think I might do it
cool, I know a certain five year old that would be very grateful. 8)
It's not actually too complicated a program, but it was leaving behind an empty folder when I did a command line param, so I asked people how it should be handled.
pls, fix it
its dead, he dropped it, see my above comment for the link to his dump files, one of them will have TuxPaint in it.
@Digitxp,
Would it be ok with you if I took Tuxpaint over?
Knock Yourself Out.
Good luck with version numbers.
But it is like a lot of other development apps on here, the link is broken and I can't download it. Then where is Development Test 2 and Development Test 3 there is just one link for Development Test 1.
The Development Tests 3, 2, and 1 mentioned in the release notes were from a version prior to 0.9.20. 0.9.20 Development Test 1 is the latest version, old versions are even less likely to be there.
Just followed the threads in this topic and just wondered if this project has been formally picked up? @agdurrette - you mentioned you were going to pick it up, is this the case?
Thanks,
GrahamG
The link in notes does not work. Links to Patrick Patience website, but nothing there. Link would be appreciated.
If no-one else is picking this up I'd like to take it on. I already have a working version of the basic app, but:
a) Haven't figured out yet how to create an additional launcher for the secondary 'Config' program; and
b) Need to create a 'Plugin' Installer for the additional 'Stamps', which shouldn't be a problem.
MJA
waiting for your undated version
someones got something up here:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/PORTABLE-SOFTWARE/Education/Windows-Portabl...
i think it could just be packaged in PAF and it would work, but looking at the files, it has no launcher so it is either modded or mislabelled as portable
i will check
