Looks extremely cool

is my first reaction after a quick look. who did this?

EDIT

Seems to contain illegal stuff (keygen.exe) so the Who did this? question becomes more important...

who ever did this did it a while back

if you look through some of it, it has some old stuff in there but it could be usefull as a beginners guide to help out a bit.

It looks like the keygen is

It looks like the keygen is for one of the sample applications he uses in the tutorial. Instead of using OpenSource apps, he uses shareware or commercial apps, both for the analysis and for the examples. But I think the theory is the same, and the open source tools work about the same as the tools he uses for analysis, e.g. regshot for analyzing what the installer does.

Simeon, Are you saying that

Simeon,

Are you saying that this is more than a Tutorial,
e.g, it is a Program and perhaps one we should not be linking to?

its definitively more

than a tutorial.
It contains

  • the same tutorial in chm, pdf and html format
  • A tools folder with regmon, filemon, nsis, upx, universal extractor, filetoicon, total uninstall, reg2nsis, Registry Workshop in it, some as "portable versions" (i.e. binaries and no installer), some with serials included (total uninstall)
  • a bunch of nsis-templates
  • xxx3D, Kleptomania, MyNotesKeeper as installer and portable apps including the nsi source

I haven't read the tutorial but the template is poor quality compared to Johns Launchers. But the whole thing might be useful cause its a all-in-one package. I'm not sure about the legality of the total uninstall serial but I think its illegal as Total Uninstall is payware.

There is a wiki page on

There is a wiki page on development that is trying to become a place where people can go to get questions answered and tutorials.

Someone might want to put the most useful bits from the tutorial on Rapidshare into the wiki.

@ Nathan

Nathan,

Could you please address Simeon's concern in:
https://portableapps.com/node/11824#comment-68656

If it seems that the package does contain an "illegal" program could you remove your link till this sorted out.

Thanks,
Tim
