Pidgin: Can't Resize text areas

I'm using the newest version of Pidgin Portable (v2.4). When I double click on a contact to begin a chat, I am no longer able to change the size of the text area in which I type my messages. If I have no window up and I receive a message, the text area is not visible at all. Is this inherent to Pidgin 2.4 or the portable version?

I've got the same issue. I thought it was my problem but after a few attempts I finally realized that this could be a bug anyway.

The best way to test this is

The best way to test this is to do a default install. Then let us know.

I'm guessing its a pidgin install problem.

Default / Bug

Not being able to change the size of the text area is the way 2.4 itself works. I don't know if that is changeable anymore.

And I've encountered the text are going invisible. You need to close that IM tab and open a new one.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Inherant to Pidgin 2.4

I have confirmed this to be a problem with v2.4 of Pidgin. The new version will auto-resize (up to four lines) as text is inputted (sp?) into the window. The missing input window problem I'm having is a bug that many others are having as well. One solution that worked for some other people was to remove the formatting bar. I rarely edit the text I type, so this may be a viable workaround for the time being.

Thanks for all your help.

The ability to resize is

The ability to resize is gone. But I haven't had an issue with disappearing text yet...it resizes automatically to 4 or 5 lines, then it just adds a scroll for me.
