Hi, I just installed PortableApps, and it is great, but the above menu items don't seem to do anything. Does anybody know why that is?

THe buttons you named are all related to the net. Do you have FirefoxPortable installed? What version of the menu do you have? The suite, the suite with the fix or the latest beta?

Some more details:
I am using the default suite base edition, and have Firefox 3 beta 3 portable edition installed. Firefox launches fine from the menu and seems to work well.
Normally the menu should use the portable Firefox. I guess your menu version doesn't detect the Firefox beta. Try installing the normal version (2.0.0.12). That should work. Another possibility is to upgrade to the latest beta (it is even more stable than your version and has more features) as it uses the local browser if it doesn't find Firefox Portable.
