To make it look more professional, and for me just more normal as I'm not a big fan of screennames/usernames/weird e-mails, etc, we're asking if you mind us using your real name.
This applies to anyone who is contributing to the site in some public way, mainly developers, translators, etc. If you don't mind us using your real name for pages on this site, please let us know, and also post your real name. Even if you haven't released any apps, or done any translations, etc yet, let us know for future reference.
Again, all I need to know is can we use your real name on this site, and what is it?
Also, John Haller has offered to change the names of those contributers who would like to change there login name to there real name, post if interested.

I have no problem with my name being online, it's up to you, that's why I'm asking.

Just a general comment: names that identify someone as female can sometimes lead to harassment or that sort of thing. First initials can make it ambiguous, but only if some males use a first initial too (otherwise it's pretty clear which are the females). Of course, it doesn't look like there are many female developers ...
I also have a reservation about asking younger folks to use their full names. In particular, we shouldn't do that for those under 13 without their parents' permission (whether or not it is covered under the US child online privacy laws). Also once it is out in public it's hard to take back. Parents can be sensitive about such things.

Then you'd have to write something to integrate into drupal to provide PHP hints when hovering a users name top provide a nickname, making it even more confusing.

When I meat new people in reallife I tell them my name instantly. The problem with internet is that it never forgets anything.
Posting something online this year will be found also 10 years ago. This time I say "yes, I use product X because of Y and not use product Z because of...". Today this might be a logical answer but in some years it may look stupid because times have changed.
Employer are using google and looking what you have just done on the net. "oh he prefers ff over ie and now he wants work for us, no cu" I don`t want any disadventages because I said anything wrong in past.
Because of that I am very paranoid and use on every time another nickname and post almost never my private details. That way no one can stalk me.
This is also one of my reasons. Employers check facebook, myspace, Google your name, etc, etc.
I'm thinking of getting a job sometime in the future with a certain institution and don't want to ruin the "semi-stealthiness" I use. I'm not paranoid, just protecting my "footprint" on the internet.

I dont think that works. Whatever user name u use, will be the user name that displays. However, if you change your username back to dbdii407, we'd all refer to you as David Dixon II on the Development Test page, or if your apps become official.

This is a pretty tough decision for me! I am quite attached to my nick 'pindab0ter' wich is a literal dutch translation of peanutbutter, mocking Dutch beaurocracy (I'll explain if you ask for it, can't tell the story often enough).
