Vistumbler - similar to Netstumbler, but for Vista users

Hi all

Any chance we can add Vistumbler (http://www.techidiots.net/project-pages/vistumbler)?

It's a Netstumbler-like program for Windows Vista, and is both open source and free. Even if it could only be installed without GPS functionality, it would still be a very useful app to have...

Thanks!

Vista-Only = Not Really Portable

Vista has a small install base (only around 12.9% of Windows PCs) at the moment, so anything that is Vista only couldn't really be considered a portable app for the same reason that anything that requires the .NET framework can't be... it simply won't work on most PCs you come across. It's probably possible to do it (since it's just an AutoIT script that uses one of Vista's built-in commands)... it may actually be portable as is... but it's not something that would be worked on or supported here due to the OS limitation.

Incidentally, you can get all the info from Vistumbler without the pretty graphs in Vista by just opening a command prompt and entering:

netsh wlan show networks mode=bssid

That's where Vistumbler gets all the info it presents in its table. So, you can get it all on any Vista box without installing anything... it just won't look as pretty Smile

By the way, welcome to PortableApps.com Smile

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks, John. That's great

Thanks, John. That's great info on the command-line method, and will fit my needs just fine.
