Run as admin

There's been talk recently about running apps with limited privileges on an administrator's account. But how about the other way around. You are a user with limited rights and you need to run something as admin. You can try sudowin. I'm not too sure if it can be made portable, 'cause it's used with the "right-click" context menu, and it seems to require .NET. However, I think that it can be used from the command line as well, so it could be portable in that sense. Maybe someone can try it out. I can't 'cause I have admin privileges at work, and I don't have windows at home.

1.5 Platform

This is built into the upcoming 1.5 platform release as a right-click on any icon in the app list.

Alright

That's pretty cool. It will sure help with those programs that require admin priv. (Truecrypt?).

wouldn't you need the password ...

to run it as admin? I know that when I am logged in the Limited account, if I wanted to install something, it automatically asks for the username and password to let the app install.

Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.

Yes

I think the OP is thinking in terms of he Does have Admin access but doesn't not usually want to use it.

He just wants to access it when he needs to for an occasional app.

That would be great

Just discovered PortableApps but I think its great. When I go to friends I can bring my own bookmarks and other stuff its great. And it would be cool if i can use it at school with limited privileges.

You can

I presume your talking about FF with bookmarks. If your having any issues running its probably due to a proxy. You could use the Proxy Get Tool which is somewhere here in the forums. Search for it using the Search box in to right corner. Use this to find the proxy and change your FF settings to match and voila Smile
