So, my big question is are there any portable apps around that will allow different on-screen keyboard mappings so that the on-screen keyboard can be used to input other languages, say Japanese.

The OSK Portable will pull up the OSK of the host operating system. So it would be Japanese on a Japanese Windows box.

Yeah, that was the behavior I was seeing. No chance of a feature extension I'm guessing? It seems like a massive amount of work otherwise I'd offer to help
