I'm a new user to portable apps from a thumb drive. I think its a great idea. I'm still a little shaky on installs - I'm running firefox from my USB drive and I'm trying to install Scrapbook - I'm not allowed - an error keeps popping up - do I need to do something differently to install add-ons using this set up.
Also - I saw a few other programs - EssentialPIM - NeoMem - not set up to be added to the portable apps - app. Is there a way to use them like this (to appear on the menu bar) - or am I supposed to load the zip files to the USB drive - unzip and load from the drive in order to get them to work.
Thanks for all of your support. Also is anyone using FreeMind as a portable app. I see its in beta - but as a newbie - I want to make sure that I load it the right way?

can´t reproduce Your error with scrapbook, maybe You have a broken download. What did the error Gui say? Try rightclickdownload from mozilla addons to Your desktop.Open the addons window via tools/addons and draw the file "scrapbook fx 1...xpi" onto the window.That should work. Set the scrapbookfolder option to Profilefolder, not to multiscrapbook, because the extension uses absolute paths to any other directory than Profile. So, if You change the drive path it won´t find the stored folders except those within the profile.

I'm actually having similar problem.
FFP2.0.0.13, XP and Vista.
First, I installed FFP to my own computer. I was in rush so I didn't try to run the program at that time. Then, I tried to run the program on my work computer. It ran, but none of addons and themes are working properly. So, I reinstalled the program in different folder while keeping the original installation folder in the same drive. Then, I installed all addons and themes from scratch and it worked perfectly with my work computer. The story didn't end here.I tried to run the program on a computer in my school's lab, but none of extensions and themes work again!
I'm assuming each computer gives different drive names to my Flash drive and this is what wk is talking about, I guess.
I think in the quote above he is taking about how to fix it but I don't understand it because it is specifically to scrapbook. Could you or any of you tell me how to fix this for general extensions and themes?
