Application: FlashGet
Category: Internet
Description: FlashGet (formerly JetCar) is a freeware download manager for Microsoft Windows.
Notes:
Here you can find launchers for FlashGet download manager. Every mayor version has its own launcher and it probably won't work with other versions, but you can try ;). They should be fully functional, feedback is welcome.
Before you can use FlashGet in your favorite browser you must close all open browsers. When you close them start FlashGetPortable and when it is running you can use browser, if you don't do this FlashGet will not work (catch links).
When you download launcher place it in the X:\PortableApps\FlashGetPortable\ folder on your flash disk (where X is your flash disk drive letter). When you start FlashGetPortable for the first time it will ask where is your FlashGet installation so it can copy necessary files to the right place to complete installation. Also note that download folder is always set to X:\Downloads (where X is your flash disk drive letter) for now.
You can download launchers from here:
FlashGetPortable v1.7.1
FlashGetPortable v1.7.3
FlashGetPortable v1.9.6
Here are the paf installers (no app):
FlashGetPortable_v1.7.1.paf.exe
FlashGetPortable_v1.7.3.paf.exe
FlashGetPortable_v1.9.6.paf.exe
I also need to thank Klonk on his excellent Portable Application Template which helped me in developing this.
History:
2008-09-28
- Created paf installer for the launcher.
2008-04-13

Any comment. Does it work for you.
Id like to know a bit about the program before I download it.

Give me some info and I will be a willing volunteer.
As far as I am aware it is a download manager
yeah, it's a little annoying when a program is presented with no explaination.
so far I have found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FlashGet
it's a download manager that seems to be useable with most browsers.

FlashGet is not FOSS and therefore doesn't belong on portableapps.com .
While it is a good program there is a FOSS alternative :

It's not perfect and I have to admit that I use NetTransport myself ..
He is providing a Launcher,
NOT FlashGet itself
"This is launcher for FlashGet v1.7.1..."

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
I updated description. Does someone have any problems with the launcher?
three different launchers to the program? Is is like a development fork w/ KeePass?
Don't be an uberPr∅. They are stinky.
each one handles a different version

I think you need to change the download directory from X:\Download to X:\Documents\Download to make it PortableApps.com style...
If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report
I agree! You could take a look at keepass, I think it has some of that style code (in case you're wondering)

Default download dir is changed to X:\Documents\Downloads but you can now set it where you wish, and launcher will remember.
Could You share the source code?
Has this been tested as working with the FlashGot extension for firefox?
but you need to launch flashget first and then firefox
Could you please add "launcher" in the topics title?
