GIMP Portable Background Window errors

as i sometimes have difficulties installing PAF's on my windows200 system, I installed GIMP_Portable_Background_Window_Plugin_2.1.2.paf.exe on a friend's XP system. That seemed to work out ok. And I mean installation went fine.

when I got home and started up GIMP, it reported errors when it loaded that plugin. It continued loading the rest of GIMP and as far as i can tell it seems alright.

I've saved the Dr Watson error reports here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?tnv042gztmy

I would like to uninstall this as it's annoying and doesn't work, but naturally GIMP_Portable_Background_Window_Plugin_Uninstaller_2.1.2.paf.exe doesn't want to cooperate and work on my system. arg

can I just move the setting file?

Hey

First off, this isn't a beta test, and shouldn't be in this forum, but perhaps it was an accident.

As said on the plugin page, it is unsupported and contains known bugs, it also says how to remove it manually.

Uninstalling: To remove the plugin, simply run the uninstaller (linked just below the download button). Or delete gimpportablebgwindow.dll and gimpportablebgwindow.exe from the GIMPPortable\App\gimp\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins directory

Let me know if that doesn't work.

well, the good news is that

well, the good news is that removing those files does work - thanks! My GIMP seems to start up normally.

I wasn't really sure where to post this as I know that posting it in the thread where it's "announced" is baaad. Smile
and my purpose was to post the link to the error report for any tech-nerds out there that love that sort of thing (no offense). Just on the off chance that these things may prove helpful to someone.

I also have the error report for GIMP Portable 2.4.5 Load problem. namely that I can only use WinLoad in this version. If I try to use GIMP's normal load window it crashs.

the error report is here:

thanks again
