Please excuse me if this has been answered before. Was anyone still working to try and portablize Jahshaka? From what I have read it looks like it is a good video editor and might make a good addition to the Portable Apps suite. If not, does anyone have any suggestions on another open-source alternative video editor?
I thank you, and apologize for the new post; but I did not think it would be proper etiquette to post to the year old thread concerning Jahshaka. PS: I did search before asking.
You are here
Jahshaka
The project had been abandoned for a while with some weird licensing issues or somesuch.
It's just now been revived, with promises of a 3.0 version coming.
If that's true, I'd wait for the next release. The concept is good, but v2 is less than optimal.
Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it. Any alternatives?
Blender includes a video editor (As well as compositor)
Wax is another product of Satish at Debugmode (He created Wink, one of the best screen capture utilities). It's not open source, but it's freeware, and it's got lots of effects, as well as the ability to import from user-created effects.

Avidemux is an open source one that has been mentioned before on this site. Give it a search. This looks like a likely candidate.
VirtualDub is already a portable app here, and while it has a lot of features, it only saves as AVI.
yes, I'm still looking a an oss alternative for windows movie maker (maybe patrick should find it, as I found photormin for him :P)
All I normally to is look for open source software, so sure, I'll give it a shot.
Maybe I can do a launcher like SpeQ for Wax...
*edit*NOo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's too installer reliant!!! :(:(:(:(:(:(
it couldn't find the dlls, it was slow, and it requires 2 other apps
Too complex to be portable.
If so, yea. It requires like GTK, the OpenLibraries, Jahplayer, OpenAL, MLT, and I don't wanna know what else.
that's too much for me, and it doesn't even run :(.
I'm working with Vivia. (I still can't manage to get it to save settings.)
Hi all
Firstly Jahshaka is buggy (won't run on some AMD CPUs I believe) and is in alpha release, abandoned (version 3 seems stalled again) - Enough on that, when it (V2) works its great, the best free hardware accelerated video editor out there!
So why am I resurrecting this post!?
Jahshaka V2 works fine on my Intel XP SP3, very few bugs, you just need to know how to use it (I started this guide http://www.mediafire.com/?bjjkyxuxh2x )
I found winPenPack x-jahshaka which is almost there!
http://www.winpenpack.com/main/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?11...
Translated the final thread has the portable launcher and reads
Install Jahshaka 2 RC4
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/jahshakafx/jahshaka-2.0-and-jahplayer-0...
Copy
C:\Program Files\Jahshaka folder in \Bin\Jahshaka,
the C:\Program Files\OpenLibraries folder in \Lib\OpenLibraries,
the C:\Program Files\mlt folder in \Lib\mlt.
(these can probably be moved to PA CommonFiles directory by changing the ini)
Then uninstall the program.
They go on to say they failed to integrate GTK and ffmpeg which are required for the Editing module (Animation module works fine)
Does anyone have the know-how to continue this and get GTK (and ffmpeg) integrated? This is my last flogging of this dead horse.
