Not App related - Good CMS?

I figure you peeps are pretty smart, so I'll ask my question here.

I'm wondering if any of you can reccommend a good cms. (Content Management System)

I've notice that John uses drupal, but I dont really like drupal, after fooling around with it for the past few days. I've ben looking at exponentCMS and Joomla.

Exponent is from my Unix instructors company. (no kidding, OIC Group, in Central Illinois, my Instructor's company wrote it. But the head dev guy just left and I'm worried about support and new features. Doug, my instructor says they're having trouble filling the spot.)

Joomla I've played with on a local machine to test and its easy to set up and to use, but I'm worried about performance. I'm not expecting a heavy load, but I wonder if anyone has experience with it or anything else.

I know this isnt app related but I'd appreciate any feedback you have with experiences of your own. Thanks

CMS Matrix

I use Drupal and I like it, although I'd be happier with a smaller / faster CMS.

I've used quite a few, and I like e107 the best at the moment. It's what powers PortaSoft. It supports forums/downloads/uploads/news/other, but no blogs as far as I can tell.

What exactly do you need?

It really depends what

you want to use it for. CMS covers a lot of ground. Have you tried http://www.opensourcecms.com/ to look at the different Packages? They cover just about everything that is available along with ratings and feedback.

I've been looking

I've been looking around.

The problem with exponent is its more for organizations and companies.

Joomlas alright.

It's just for a personal site (kinda blog / family and friends forum thing)

I like alot of the modules that Joomla has, but It's performance isn't fantastic. It doesnt really have to be I guess, but It's noticeable to me with 3mb/1.5m ADSL on the temporary test hosting account I'm using. (100webspace.com)

I ahvent done this stuff for over 5 years. (Sophomore year in HighSchool) and It's slowly coming back to me. I can do html but not heavy php and no perl, and I'm looking for something I can handle with minimal (hopefully none) coding.

I've got experience with MySQL and MSSQL from running game servers. (l2j Java Emulated Lineage 2 Server (with MySQL), and an Official Server with leaked files (with MSSQL), plus an old EQ server from 3 years ago). I'm pretty good with those now. I've done alot of tinkering and am self taught, but I think I can handle this stuff. Joomla was almost too easy and exponent about the same.

I'd try drupal again but I need a guide for windows instead of linux for my local testing. I'll look at OpenSourceCMS and see what I find.

Rather than getting into

a long thread on CMS, you can contact me through my website. We evaluate and test a lot of CMS packages.
