Spanish Language FF3 Beta 5

Hi again!!

I'm surfing with FF3beta5 (portable, of course), but it would be great to do it in spanish. I haven't found any language pack in Mozilla site. And the switcher doesn´t works in ff3.

Any ideas, please?

Thanks in advance!!! Papps keeps rockin'!!! Biggrin

Simple

Use the advanced way:

  1. Got to the all-beta page to download 3b5 Spanish Installer
  2. Use 7-Zip Portable to extract the contents of the installer
  3. On one of the extracted folders there is the Spanish version (other has the English one)
  4. Copy the contents form the Spanish version folder to [Firefox Portable Install Folder]\App\firefox

Thats it.

Thank you very much, ptmb!!! Everything clear! Wink But I have seen that there are problems if I keep FF2 installed, and I'm going to erase 3beta. Sad

Thanks anyway!!! Biggrin

Uh?

Problems? I have Minefield 3.0pre (even unstabler) installed in some sort of portable way (no install) and I have no problems.
You can't run the two at the same time (without some tweaks), but you can run the two on the same PC w/o a problem.
Also, I didn't say to install, just to be clear, I said to extract the contents of the installer. Just to be clear.
Even like that, no problemo, always on orders.

+ Trick for the ones who don't want to use installer:

  1. Download and install language pack for 3b5 in here.
  2. Create a text file called FirefoxPortable.ini on the root of your Portable Firefox install with the following content:
[FirefoxPortable]
FirefoxDirectory=App\firefox
ProfileDirectory=Data\profile
SettingsDirectory=Data\settings
PluginsDirectory=Data\plugins
FirefoxExecutable=firefox.exe
AdditionalParameters=-contentLocale Language code you want to use - ex: es-ES
LocalHomepage=
DisableSplashScreen=false
AllowMultipleInstances=false
DisableIntelligentStart=false
SkipChromeFix=false
SkipCompregFix=false
RunLocally=false

EDIT: I remembered that if you install Firefox 3b5 together with 2 it will corrupt your profile, but there's no problem with the Portable version as it uses a different profile folder, if you'd like to know. If the problem is that, no problem.

Glups

I will try your fix, I think. Thank you very much again Wink

My problem was: when I open ff2 after install ff3beta (closing ff3 before), it opens an installer. I don't know much of "tuning" apps, as you can see, and it has "frighten" me a little...

Yes

You installed FF3beta5 right, not the portable version. If it was that then it was the check for compatibility of addons that happens when you run a different version of Firefox. That only checks if the addons installed while on 3beta (if any) are compatible with 2.

I hope to have helped and you're not obligated to do nothing (I take that from your "Glups" Wink ) It is good to have things documented to help people with similar questions.
