Space Invaders OpenGL is just one exe file that can be run from a USB stick, so it's already portable... I use to have it, just get tired of it and finally removed it...
Download the zip file and extract the one exe file that have inside... that's all. it doesn't have any settings or registries or whatever, because it doesn't have any configuration or levels.

and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report
yes it does leave stuff. it leaves behind registry keys. i know because i was going to make it portable but decided not to because the game seemed too easy and went on an on and didn't get harder.
Registry is the only thing I never check because I don't use those utilities to do it...
Anyway, I use CCleaner so is not a big deal...

CCleaner isn't a catch-all....it leaves a lot of useless keys behind that a previously installed app used to use.

Are you saying this is something you also don't do when you post or test an app for this site ????
The registry is one of the Most Important things to be checking!!!
Tim
Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
but there is other people that check that (like you)... I check if it run on Vista x64, on XP pro, and folders left behind...

Revo Uninstaller...That helps remove obselete registry entries and folders from previously installed software cuz when you uninstall an app with it, it searches for registry entries and folders left behind by that app.
Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with Windows.
So here's what happened.
You said:

I took you at your word and download
Space Invaders OpenGL
Looks like a cool game.
Travis says:
"it leaves behind registry keys"
Then you say:
"Registry is the only thing I never check ...
Now you say:
"but there is other people that check that (like you)...
Now I have registry settings on my system, harmless in this case I'm sure, but what about in the future?
Now I say:
"I no longer trust you or your evaluations of apps as not only don't you test properly, but you give out incorrect and misleading information
Sad, Very Sad,

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
since I have been running this App for about two years now, even at the office, and the IT guy in my office never complaint about that (and he keep an eye on me most of the time... he said that I'm dangerous since I started sending memos requesting a Linux PC, or let me install Ubuntu in a partition on my PC by myself) I thought it was safe; moreover, I use 3 or 4 registry cleaners not only CCleaner but that is the most popular here of those I use so I only mention this one, and I use to check which entries is removing (the most common is 7zip) and never, but never found an entry about this game... I said it was safe to run portably.
I don't particularly check registry entries when testing a beta PApp (at home) mainly because I don't want to install more stuff like a registry checker (I also use mainly PApps in my home PC, only have MS Office, Antivirus, Miro, Galileo, Joost and VeoH really installed), but when I clean those PCs I use (mainly each 15 days) I use to check those registry entries that are going to be removed, and never found one related to Space Invaders OpenGL.
AND... you have to trust me, I'm also a Boy Scout Leader (really!)...

To check the registry, just use RegShot like the rest of us...it doesnt need to be installed, it's completely portable as is.

I'm going to try it...

There is a wonderfull thing called regedit. start => run => regedit.exe

Is not for exploring the registry, it compares created before and after you take 'shots'.
i don't like to use RegShot. it only shows you keys that weren't there before so if the keys are already on your system you don't know if they'll be created on other pcs. I personally use RegMon. I first set the filter to only show Successes and Writes and then i just right click and exclude every process that i don't want to watch (alternatively you probably can exclude everything and include the exes you want to monitor). When using regmon, it shows me when a program tries to write a key even when i already have the key on my system. I also do the same thing with FileMon
the registry keys?
I checked the registry (manually) and can't find anything... now I'm waiting for RegShot (I just download it) to finish its process to compare.

it keeps settings of what options you picked to launch under HKLM\SOFTWARE\SpaceInvaders-OpenGL . I guess it can't make the keys if you don't have admin privileges because it uses HKLM
I have doubt that we are talking about the same app... :s
because the one I know don't have options...
I'm cheking and googling now...

The last one is regshot related, and the game started and then froze, maybe it have something to do with the fact that this is crappy Vista...

Around S (for Space Invaders)
It shows some folders:
Safer Networking
SereneScreen
Services
Skype
Sonic
Spyware Terminator
SSE
Sun Microsystems
Symantec (which should not be here)
SymDebug
symNRT
Synaptics
That's all...
I'm sorry but I can't find it in any way...

I did it again with RegShot, and this time this appear: HKLM\SOFTWARE\SPACEINVADERS-OPENGL
But what is worrying me now is that it also shows: 8448 deleted keys, 22 added keys, 46322 deleted values, 1 deleted file, 1 deleted folder, and 35 modified files...
I swear I did nothing than run RegShot - game (in XP compatibility to avoid crashes) - RegShot again and compare...

Try WinBoard Portable. I recommend it! [insert shady character smiling here]

I'd love a portable Nintendo 64 Emulator. There are several open source ones, but by far my favorite was Mupen ++ which is no longer in development. Having a good FOSS portable n64 emulator would help LOTS of people out, and really there is no better/more fun game that can be had on PC beyond Mario Kart 64.
Put all violators of the Constitution in jail.
there is one in the Beta forum already, please have a look here:
https://portableapps.com/node/9700
but this is only a launcher because pj64 is a closed source (i think) but there is a install tutorial, too.

Hell was full, so I came back!!!
Sorry for my lousy English!!!
That is true. In fact, I use the PJ64 launcher myself, but I think he wants an OFFICIAL portable N64 emulator. Compressed, put in PAF format, in the applications list, ect. Like how someone portifyed Frostwire even though there is a launcher for Limewire.
