I want to know why mac on a stick is on PortableApps. I've wondered for a while it is the only app that...
1. Requires downloading of illegal files or owning something
2. Is NOT hosted on portableapps
3. Is NOT in PAF format
4. Does not include every required file
5. Is not 100% open source
6. Does not have announced updates
7. And to top it off, there is an open source alternative, Linux

Why do we link to it then?

Isn`t that important. No one is like mr. spok.
Well, agreed, any *nix on stick make more point. Or a version which you can use either in virtualized or in real mode.
Or first portable app for linux.![Smile](https://portableapps.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/smile.gif)
U should check out Slax its a pretty cool operating system that is open source i believe, they have 2 versions u can download, a cd version and a usb version. For the usb one u need at least i would say about 300Mb+ for it to run smoothly. I am running it off of a 2Gb usb and it works great.

I'm asking why Mac-On-A-Stick is hosted here. I think the link should be removed. If we were to link to anyhing we didn't make, it should be to something more like CCleaner portable.

John can link to whatever he wants. It's up there to provide options for running an operating system from a USB drive. At the time it was posted, a linux distro was expected to be posted along with it, but due to the issues with qemu using a closed library, and a shift in focus to developing more apps, that never happened.

Ok. It's just that when I downloaded the torrent with all the files, I assumed it was legal since thiss is PortableApps, the open source haven, but I realized I had to delete it later on.

It is legal, just not open source. Apple has released most of the necessary files for free, because it's now an outdated legacy system. All you need is your own Mac Plus rom.

I don't have a rom. That's my point. No rom, then it's illegal.

One of the most used sentences in this forums "it`s legal", "it`s illegal". You guys could have much more fun in a forum where people are discussing law.
That sounds BOOOOORING! But really, why does PA link to it?
Simplifying daily life through technology
because it is an application that we like that is a portable app, that is it. and the website would have come under heavy fire from Apple if anything illegal was going on since the site links to the supposedly "ilegal" rom file. in anycase we dont host it and we have not developed it so we only link to it as well as provide mild support for it. case closed.

I just thought it starng how that app is the only app that has so many differences from the others.
