Hey Travis,
I don't know if this is the right page for this but wanted to let you know somehow. I'm not a professional tester or anything I just really like this portable apps concept and downloaded infarecorder. the version I downloaded was unable to do a straight copy of a non-copyrighted dvd. It kept saying to insert media or something wen the DVD was already in. It was a data disc which I had made that just had software and games on it.
I know the computers burner is fine because I continued to use my pc software to burn the disc with no probs but unfortunately Infra recorder couldn't do the job. Please let me know when this prob i0s solved.

this is actually a problem with infrarecorder, not infrarecorder portable. i just saw a similar report of infrarecorder not picking up blank dvds on their forums, but with no replies to it. i'm pretty sure this bug only happens on some computers, not all. the only thing i can really do is hope that the programmer of infrarecorder fixes it in his next release, which was supposed to be out back in February according to the roadmap. until then, you can see if cdrtfe Portable works for your pc. It's in Dev Testing from wraithdu.
Thanks for the update Travis :o)

i too had a similar problem sometime back, i think it is better to ask some CD Duplication Services center because they know all about DVD and problems which may occur
Imgburn I beleive is open sourced and I have heard good things as to its efficiency. May be a better alternative for converting to portable apps?

no, imgburn isn't open source; just infrarecorder and cdrtfe that i know of.
burnatonce is a posssility
I gather
"burnatonce is a GUI for CDRDAO"
means that it is a graphical do up of a open source program and therefore hopefully useful
Also try
K3b 1.0.1 not sure about this one though :o(
Also can I ask, if a develop or programmer were willing to allow their freeware program to be made portable, what would be required for the programmers/developers to make it so?

burnatonce doesn't seem like it's been updated in a while, and k3b is for linux only. infrarecorder is the best you're gonna find for open source disc burners for windows (which is why we chose it).
as for freeware, well this has been discussed many times on these forums. getting permission is not the problem. the problem is hosting. sourceforge only allows open source apps and if we are to open up a freeware section of pa.com then it would involve getting high bandwidth hosting, as PA.com downloads are about 1TB per day on sourceforge. a section of freeware apps is planned, just not yet.
Thanks you for the info
