[Closed] AbiWord: AbiCollab.Profile file left behind

Note: This is only a problem if you add the new collaboration plug-in to AbiWord Portable.

Steps to reproduce:
- Install the collaboration plug-in (AbiCollab.dll) from the tools package available at http://www.abisource.com/download/
- Run AbiWordPortable.exe
- File > Quit
- Notice the %HOMEPATH%\AbiSuite\AbiCollab.Profile file left behind

Experimental = Not Supported

The plugin is listed as 'experimental' so we don't test or support it yet.

Plugin installed by default

It seems that the collaboration plug-in might be installed by default, now. I've only installed AbiWord from the PA.c platform, and I'm getting the directory and .Profile file in my HOMEPATH.

Not On Stable

It's not included in stable AbiWord 2.8.6. I just confirmed that AbiWord Portable 2.8.6 Rev 2 leaves no such file or directory behind. Were you using AbiWord Test 2.9.2?

I'm using 2.8.6

I've only installed AbiWord from the Apps->Get More Apps... menu. In AbiWord, the Help->About Abiword... shows version as 2.8.6.

There is a "Collaborate" menu between the "Tools" and "Documents" menu, and in Tools->Plugins..., there is an "AbiWord Collaboration" plugin listed. I've not manually installed any plugins; it's my first time opening the plugins window.

I performed the following test with Regshot:

-Uninstall AbiWord (right-clicking in the PA.c platform and selecting Uninstall)

-Deleted the "AbiSuite" directory from the C:\Users\[my username]\ directory

-Installed AbiWord from Apps->Get More Apps... menu

-Took a Regshot and had it scan C:

-Opened AbiWord, wrote a few characters, saved the document, closed the document, opened a .docx file, changed it slightly, and saved the file as .abw and .doc files

(At this point, I had Windows Explorer opened at C:\Users\[my username]\ and noticed that AbiWord did create the "AbiSuite" directory)

-Closed AbiWord (the "AbiSuite" directory disappeared in my Explorer window)

-Took a second Regshot

-Report didn't show the "AbiSuite" directory (which makes sense to me since it was deleted when I closed AbiWord)

I'm thinking the "AbiSuite" directory may have been left behind after a crash. After my Regshot test, I was able to get the directory to stay behind by killing the AbiWordPortable.exe process from Task Manager, then closing AbiWord normally.

In retrospect, a crash and my judicious use of Task Manager was probably the cause of my original "AbiSuite" directory persistence.
