Firefox Waiting Problem

I have a problem with Firefox that's been for something like a month now...

When I start Firefox, websites load fast, nice and smoothly.
After a while, pages take a long time to load (sometimes wait for 5mins and nothing is loaded). All what I get is the loading circular progressbar in the tab.
Also, when I have multiple tabs running at the same time, I may get the same problem.

Usually, for me to solve this problem, I "End Process Tree" and reopen Firefox Portable then restore session (to avoid the loss of the contents of the other tabs), and then the webpage opens.

I tried deleting Cookies and Cache, but still the same problem occurs.
I would have deleted everything, but don't want to loose all the URLs stored, bookmarks, and saved passwords...

PS: I have a 5MB Highspeed Internet.
PPS: I don't have this problem with either Internet Explorer, or Opera (installed or Portable)

Note:
-------
Directory size: 250MB
Version: 2.0.0.13

How can I solve this problem to get Firefox to open all my pages nice and smooth like it used to be?

More info

"Directory size: 250 MB"

That's the size of the Firefox directory? Because if it is, there's a serious problem; it should only be about 25 MB.

Ah ha!

Tab Mix Plus. That'll do it every time. But if you disabled that and still had the problem... hmm. Weird.

Cache?

Any chance the user has disk cache enabled? That'll always slow it down.

Tab Mix Plus & Cache

- For Tab mix Plus, if you think its presence is a reason why my internet surfing is suffocated, I can remove it all together - not big deal. But what good replacement is there to use that has similar features?

- For the Cache, yes, I have it enabled, but deleted all of it + cookies too, and still had the same problem...

Try disabling the cache, not only deleting the cache files.

To other ppl...

Does Tab Mix Plus slow FFP down? If so, why?

When I used it,

It slowed down both the portable and local install.

Disable Both

Cache should NOT be enabled on flash drives. It causes too many writes and actually slows down browsing. This is why it is disabled by default.

Tab Mix Plus' session saver causes too many writes to the drive and also slows down your browsing.

John...

So, if I only disable the TMP session saver, would that do the trick?

he said disable both. Have

he said disable both. Have cache enabled on a flash drive is a BAD idea, it causes too many writes (flash drives have a limited write-cycle lifespan) and really slows things down

I think yes

I don't guarantee nothing, but in theory you can disable TMP session manager and that'll do the trick for keeping TMP.

I myself use TMP with the session manager disabled (I even disabled Firefox session manager trough it, easier that trough about:config). My Firefox is sleek and fast (for a browser with about 20 addons Smile ).

TMP

Well, I can't live without the Session Manager, because I don't have a computer to call mine at work. There's about 30 people and 20 computers, so i guess you can figure it out... Sad Work for the government sucks big time...

emm....

Well, I usually use my Firefox directly from the desktop.
What I do is compress and keep on my USB key and extract on the desktop...once done with the day, compress the one on the desktop, and replace it with the one on the USB key (to make sure I have the latest up-to-date version)

Do I still have to diable Session Manager, TMP, and Cache?

Well... I think no

I think all of their setting are saved on FF profile, that is correctly directed on FFP. But that is a severe security problem, because even if you erased the one on the desktop, the system only allowed that space to be written, and people can recover that files.

Secure

I use the portable version mostly in 2 locations:
- home
- university: where there is a secure user login

I never use it on public computers anymore.
And when I used to use it on public computers, I used to use a program that overwrites all files several times before deleting them, and so, recovered files would be total garbage (files would be corrupted)

Where are you when I need a help?

I posted my last comment and nobody helps me. Nobody gives a damn. I fed up. I search for other browser and found "opera". I removed Firefox in usb drive due this problem and added Opera. It works great and smooth. No lagging. I suggest you, anacondasnake to grab "Opera". I use this Opera in usb driver for University and Firefox at home which I don't use it in usb drive. I really hope this firefox fix the bug asap. Thanks.
