I have had a problem with "safely remove hardware" whenever I have been playing Jooleem. I keep getting told that the device cannot be stopped at present. This only occurs when I have been playing Jooleem, so I assume it is not shutting down completely. I do not want to remove Jooleem if I don't have to (it's the only game I have kept within PAM, although there are others on my stick. I have tried other sticks and have the same problem. Any ideas please?

I haven't tried out joleem (yet) but try these ideas.
1. Wait a little bit after shutting joleem down (Up to 30 seconds) and try again
2. Do you stop Joleem by X-ing it out? If so, try shutting it down in-game.
3. Is the PortableApps menu still up? Make sure all other apps are off.
4. Try using the launcher for Unlocker, run it off your flashdrive, and unlock Joleem. (only works with administrator rights)

Have tried 1 & 2 to no avail.
3: I always shut down PAM and close all other programmes- I've had that problem in the past, but this time I've been very careful because I didn't want to look a complete dork before asking for help, I've seen too many people get flamed on these forums.
4: I'll try unlocker when I get to my own 'puter. At the moment I'm at work with a limited account.
Well, I'll see if I can recreate the circumstances. For now, you can try copying your portableapps to your documents. Thats what I do now that I realized I could.
What version of windows are you using? Is is a school, library, home PC, or other type of PC? Is Joleem fully updated? Try reinstalling. I'll see if I can help.
P.S. It's Stevoisiak, not Stevosiak. It was originally supposed to be Stevoisjake, but a site refused it, so I changed the j to an I, and when sites had the 10 letter limit, I eventually dropped the e.
Edit: Try starting up Joleem, and after it loads, immediately hitting quit. Then try it. Also, are all the windows from the flashdrive closed? Have you tried using it on a different PC?

I'm using XP (mostly pro with SP2), but as I work for an agency, I have used at least 4 computers and have the same problem.
I am redownloading (if that's a real word) Jooleem as I type, to try a reinstall (I know that is, although my version number seems to be the latest.
All windows are closed and as I said above I use several different computers.
I'll have to report on the success or otherwise of the reinstall in another post as I'm using firefox portable from the same stick at the moment.

No the clean install didn't do it. I launched Jooleem direct (ie not from PAM) and I still couldn't "safely remove hardware". It MUST be writing something to the local computer but my coding is almost non-existent, I can edit the stuff if I'm led carefully by the hand but that's about it. Thanks in anticipation.
I have used Jooleem on at least five different computers and I have yet to experience any problems with the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature.
When you start JooleemPortable, it will move "highscores.dat" from "\Data\settings" to "App\Jooleem" if the file exists (I believe it will just create it instead if it is the first time running). It also creates two files--"stderr.txt" and "stdout.txt"--in the "App\Jooleem" folder. When you exit the game, it immediately deletes the last two files and then moves "highscores.dat" back to "\Data\settings" (to save any high scores you may have achieved).
Perhaps these "closing actions" are not complete yet before you attempt to safely remove your flash drive (although that would be an extremely slow drive). Another possibility is that your agency's computers have some sort of software that prevents these "closing actions" from taking place; therefore, the process will still be running. The only other thing I can think of is the window remaining open, but you have already stated that all windows are closed.
