Yes, you're right... that's odd.
Portableapps host java portabilizer? Why isn't it in the apps list then?

Because it wasn't official at all just only a small test, I don't think John is going to continue this until an Open-Source Java Binary gets released
your friendly neighbourhood moderator Zach Thibeau
So he wan't to see the binary to continue? What's the difference between a binary release and the regular, and why does he need it?

a binary release is the regular release....he's waiting for Sun Microsystems (the makers of the Java Runtime Environment) to make the JRE fully open-source before he supports the java portablizer again. Right now, the JRE is only partially open-source, but Sun is moving towards making almost all of their products fully OSS.

According to Wikipedia, On 13 November 2006, Sun released much of Java as free software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). On 8 May 2007 Sun finished the process, making all of Java's core code open source, aside from a small portion of code to which Sun did not hold the copyright. (emphasis mine)
Still can't be made portable, methinks![Sad](https://portableapps.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/sad.gif)

If it isn't completely open source, how can we hold the file on the site?

we dont host java...the java portablizer was a utility to copy a local install of java to the portable device

One has been released. To my knowledge it is called Open JDK
Home: http://openjdk.java.net/
Source Repositories: http://hg.openjdk.java.net/
Source Snapshots: http://download.java.net/jdk6/6u3/promoted/b05/index.html
I am also posting this in the App request forum as a request for a portable JDK (Java Development Kit) or portable JRE (Java Runtime Environment)/JVM (Java Virtual Machine)

Because that's not the right link. The right link is this:

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
thank you
Now that I’ve gotten Java Portablizer, do I install it to …\PortableApps\JavaPortablizer and have it create …\PortableApps\CommonFiles\java, or do I install the .paf.exe to …\PortableApps\CommonFiles\java?
from where you like.It will transfer the HDD java runtime files to the common files folder on your stick. Then keep it where you want to.

I’m asking because I tried it and it didn’t.
Do I need to create the CommonFiles folder myself first?
Can you define how it 'didn't'? You shouldn't have to create the folder manually. What was the problem you ran into specifically?
Last time I ran Java_Portablizer_1.1.paf.exe from the PortableApps menu; that didn’t work for me, since it wanted to install into JavaPortablizer\… rather than CommonFiles. I just tried installing again, this time running the .paf.exe file directly, and it seems to have created CommonFiles and correctly installed Java to there.
Maybe you didn't have a 'PortableApps' folder on your drive before? Or it couldn't find your drive. Good that's it's working now.
Installing it through the menu put into a x\portableapps\javaportablizer folder, but if I run it directly it installs it into portableapps\commonfiles foldder
