Hi PortableApps forum members,
I have installed OpenOffice Version 2.0.2 on my Win98-Computer without problems and everything is running fine.
Then I have installed Portable OpenOffice Version 2.0.1 (english)+German Language Pack on my 1GB-USB-Stick (unzipped and copied on my Office-PC with OS Windows XP). The installed POo is running from USB-Stick (connected to the XP computer) also without problems.
But now I have a strange problem:
On my HomePC (with OS Win98) the complete Menu bar is missing after starting the application from USB-Stick, instead of the menu I can see only the blue background bar!
The "official" local installed OpenOffice.org 2.0.2 (german) is running without problems on my Win98 computer.
All other portable applications, like Writer, Calc and so on have no menu bar, too...
By navigating to the popup-Screen "Customize Toolbar" (tap "Toolbars" is selected here) and selecting "Menue"-tab, Portable OpenOffice is crashing with kernel32.dll error "CRASHREP"
What can I do to run my portable application on my Win98 Computer?
In the first step I re-installed POo 2.0.1 in several ways and also I have installed the Unicode.dlls from MS.
Summary:
- XP Office computer (no official OOo installed) -> Unzipping und Installation of Portable Oo 2.0.1 (english) on USB-Stick, with XP everything is running fine -> USB-Stick connected to my HomePC with OS Win98 (installed official OOo 2.0.2 is running fine): Portable Oo 2.0.1 Menu bar is missing...
- Win98 HomePC (with official installed OOo 2.0.2 german) -> Unzipping and Installation of Portable Oo 2.0.1 (english) on USB-Stick, connected to XP OfficePC everything is running fine -> USB-Stick connected to my HomePC with OS Win98 (installed official OOo 2.0.2 is runninmg fine): Portable Oo 2.0.1 Menu bar is missing..
- With Win98, Deletion of "settings" directory on the USB-POo-directory, Restart, Settings will be recreated automatically -> Portable Oo 2.0.1 Menu bar is missing.. -> Connection the XP-Office-PC: everything is running fine..
What can I do? Please help.
Best regards,
binap
